Dr. David Gibson, a Virginia Beach native, joins Beach Eye Care’s world-class ophthalmology and surgical teams as a Fellow of the Refractive Surgery Alliance Society. Dr. Gibson graduated Magna Cum Laude from Randolph-Macon College and was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society and Phi Beta Kappa as an undergraduate. He completed his medical education at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and then ventured to New York for his internship and residency in ophthalmology at Nassau University Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. He also completed part of his surgical training at New York Presbyterian’s Columbia and Weill Cornell University Hospitals in Manhattan. During residency, Dr. Gibson served on the Refractive Surgery Alliance Resident Committee and completed the Resident Refractive Surgery Certificate Course. With passion for his studies, he has co-authored over a dozen publications and presented his research at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery national meetings. Dr. Gibson is devoted to his community and was once even an Emergency Medical Technician for the City of Virginia Beach. He is happy to be serving his community again at Beach Eye Care. In his spare time, he enjoys wildlife photography, fishing, surfing, and people-watching at his favorite local dining spot – Waterman’s.
