Dr. Teresa Shenouda joined our team as a board certified ophthalmologist with additional training in oculoplastics, specializing in eyelid lift surgeries for droopy eyelids. Is 3D TV Hazardous to Your Health?

If conventional wisdom says that watching TV is bad for your eyes, watching 3D TV may be three times worse, we're beginning to discover. Doctors and researchers are starting to warn viewers about the potential dangers of spending too much time in front of a 3D boob tube. Guidelines for Samsung's new line of 3D TVs warn against prolonged exposure to 3D TVs for kids (kids under 6 shouldn't watch at all), teens, pregnant women, the elderly, sleep-deprived people and anyone buzzed on alcohol. They also point out that watching 3D programming might cause motion sickness, lingering depth perception problems, disorientation and "decreased postural stability." The guidelines suggest taking frequent 30 minute breaks from TV watching.

Tour de Cure - April 2010

For the second year in a row, Beach Eye Care employees have raised awareness and held fundraisers to support the American Diabetes Association (ADA) in the ongoing search for a cure for diabetes. The Beach Eye Care Team of nine cyclists were particularly proud of their two Red Riders, employees diagnosed with diabetes, who showcased the courage it takes to live day to day with this chronic disease. The team remarkably collected $2,557, surpassing their $2,500 goal.

Moment of Clarity

Beach Eye Care performed PRK surgery on our own Damion Rutherford (with 20/800 vision) on 2/19/10. Three days after surgery, he tested 20/30 (in both eyes)!
