BlepharoplastyOver time, aging of the eyelid skin may occur resulting in loss of collagen and elasticity. In the upper eyelid, the loose, sagging skin may fold over the natural crease of the eyelid and/or cause a puffy appearance due to fat coming forward into the eyelid. In some cases it may even impair vision and may qualify for insurance coverage. Blepharoplasty, or an eyelift, in most cases, will alleviate this sagging, extra skin and puffiness. In this procedure, an incision is made in the natural crease of the eyelid and excess skin and fat is removed. The same procedure can be done of the lower eyelid for excess skin and puffiness. Dr. Shenouda has performed over 500 eyelid procedures and also offers several options for facial rejuvenation as well as general eye care. She is readily available for your personal consultation. |

On the lower lid, the incision is created either inside the lower lid or just below the lower lashes depending on your particular needs. As with upper lid blepharoplasty, lower lid blepharoplasty can result in a more youthful, less tired appearance. Full healing is usually achieved by 2 months after surgery. The incision lines will continue to fade for approximately a 1 year.
